Kolbe reading

Here is some video of Kolbe "reading" his I Spy book from the library.  Can you guess what his favorite pictures are?!

Backpacks

For her second Christmas (I think?) we got Gemma a personalized backpack from Pottery Barn Kids.  She really likes playing with it and Kolbe does too, and it really comes in handy for day trips and such.  We were just talking about doing the same thing for Kolbe this Christmas when our sweet neighbor gave us her son's personalized (with his initials) backpack from L.L. Bean.  Totally out of the blue.  She has been very generous with us before with children's books and other items her son has "outgrown" (we inherited our fish, aquarium and accessories from them a few months back).  She said she figured I could do something with it to personalize it for Kolbe.  And sure enough, a trip to Hobby Lobby and under $10 later I am super excited with the results.  Here are both kids with their backpacks.  I intended to take before pics of Kolbe's and completely forgot.  Too late now!  It had J's initials on the top part (where the K is) and a shark down where the iron-on ball decals are.

BALLS!

Our Kolbe is all boy, and he loves throwing, catching and playing with balls.  I am amazed at his arm (you should see him throw food off his highchair tray ;-D), and his ability to "catch" a ball that has been rolled or tossed gently to him is pretty good too.  It's fun having a little boy.  I popped the camera over to its "sport" setting (one of the few, possibly only features of which I take advantage on our camera) and snapped away the other evening on the deck.  I know as his mother that I'm slightly biased, but I think he is pretty stinkin' cute.
